Zonta Offers a Range of Scholarships
The Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis offers three types of scholarships.
Scholarships for Returning Students to OSU and LBCC
Approximately ten scholarships for returning students are being offered. A grant of up $800 each quarter will be made available to help cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies charged to a recipient’s account at either Linn Benton Community College or Oregon State University. For degree partnership students, the total payment can be divided between the two institutions. Scholarship applications should:
- Be currently enrolled undergraduate students at Linn Benton Community College or Oregon State University who have resumed their studies after a minimum one-year break in their education. Preference will be given to older-than-average students, students with family responsibilities, and
those with financial need. - Have demonstrated an interest in working to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health or professional status of women or have demonstrated a willingness to work in a job or profession involving the welfare of children.
- Be full-time (minimum of 9 credits) students enrolled at LBCC or OSU making satisfactory academic progress.
Scholarships have been awarded for this year. Applications for the 2010-11 academic year will be posted in February 2010.
Young Woman in Public Affairs Scholarship
The Zonta Club of Corvallis is offering a scholarship to pre-college women (age 16-20). Eligibility criteria include commitment to volunteerism, leadership, and dedication to the advancement of women. Winning Applications selected by Zonta Clubs are sent to the Zonta District Governors, and are eligble for further awards. A District Evaluating Committee selects one applicant per district to submit to Zonta International Headquarters. The Zonta International Young Women in Public
Affairs Subcommittee selects five international recipients from the District applications.
The YWPA Scholarship has been awarded for this year. Scholarship applications will be posted in fall 2009, and will be due approximately in February 2010.
Jane M. Klausmann Scholarship
The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded to women studying business at the undergraduate level who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field. Zonta Club of Corvallis is offering one $2,400 scholarship. The winner’s application is sent to District to be considered for an additional $400 scholarship. Zonta International offers six $5,000 scholarships to district winners.
Scholarships have been awarded for this year. Applications for the next academic year will be posted in spring 2010.
