Kathleen F. and Edward H. Heath Memorial Scholarship

​$1500 Scholarship Available for 

Currently Enrolled Undergraduate LBCC or OSU Student

For the 2020-2021 Academic Year

 

Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis is accepting scholarship applications. A $1500 scholarships is being offered in memory of Kathleen F. and Edward H. Heath, both were educators and supporters of Zonta and its mission. The scholarship is $500 per quarter to help cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies charged to a recipient's account at either Linn Benton Community College or Oregon State University. For LBCC/OSU degree partnership students, the total payment can be divided between the two institutions. 

 

CRITERIA

Applicants for the scholarship must:

  1. Be currently enrolled undergraduate students at Linn Benton Community College or Oregon State University who resumed their studies after a minimum one-year break in their education (the gap may be between high school and college). Preference will be given to older-than-average students, students with family responsibilities, and those with financial need.
  2. Have demonstrated an interest in working to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health or professional status of women or have demonstrated a willingness to work in a job or profession involving the welfare of children and women. 
  3. Be enrolled at LBCC or OSU and making satisfactory progress. Applicants should be planning to enroll for at least 9 credits per term for the length of the scholarship.
  4. Be residing in Oregon and currently enrolled at OSU and/or LBCC.


 

ESSAY

Describe in a short essay how you meet each of the criteria for the scholarship. Address: 1) the major life transition that led to a break in your education; 2) how you have demonstrated commitment to improving the status of women and/or children; 3) how your educational goals and studies advance your commitment; and 4) how the scholarship will help you continue to meet your goals. Maximum two pages, minimum 12 pt. font. 

 

ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT

An unofficial transcript of completed academic college or university work from each institution must be submitted with your application materials. A photocopy is acceptable. Although unofficial, the transcripts must be prepared and issued by the college or university. A list of courses and grades prepared by the applicant is not acceptable.  You must submit a full transcript, and grades for the fall of 2019 must be included.  Winter term of 2020 may be requested during the selection process.

Full applications will include FIVE Completed items: 1) Scholarship Application Form, 2) Student Financial Information Form, 3) Your Essay, 4) Full unofficial transcript of all college level work which includes fall 2019 grades, and 5) A Signed Application Checklist

  • Incomplete applications or applications that do not conform to all instructions will not be considered for scholarships. 

  • Unused scholarship funds will not be released to scholarship recipients but will be returned to the Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis.
