Z Club at Corvallis High School was organized in October of 2002 with 21 students. The first Z Club president was Jessica Bober, daughter of Zontian Pete Bober. The chartering ceremony was conducted by District 8 Governor Debby Arney on January 21, 2003, at The Clubhouse at Adair.

Early service projects included staffing Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services events, holiday tree decorating at Corvallis Caring Place, sponsorship of two Ukrainian orphans, an Easter basket for Jackson Street Youth Shelter, a prom fashion show at Timberhill Place Assisted Living, Halloween parties at The Regent Senior Living and Community Outreach Family Shelter, and collection of cell phones to benefit CARDV clients. A fun project to collect gently worn prom wear and assist with the Vina Moses prom giveaway began in 2012.

Annual service has included staffing and contributing a raffle basket for the Zonta Auction as well as organizing the Red Cross Blood Drive.  Many of the members became first-time donors at age 16 and have continued to make regular blood donations.

Each school year, Z Club raises money in order to make donations to one or more local agencies. While car washes, bake sales and holiday gift wrapping are typical high school fund raisers, Z Club at CHS also staged a talent show at Imagine Coffee to benefit one of their favorite causes—Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build, which pairs female volunteers with female building professionals on construction sites.

Washing Cars for Good Causes

Car Wash at Auto Zone

At Auto Zone on Saturday, April 27, 2013, CHS Z clubbers held a car wash to raise money toward their commitment to Women Build, a national day for women to help build Habitat for Humanity homes. Z clubbers and their moms worked on a Corvallis Habitat for Humanity home on May 11.

Corvallis High School Students

After hearing a plea for help with funding from CHS Counselor Ms. Wright, Z Clubbers scheduled a car wash at their school September 29, 2012. They raised $380 in four hours toward the estimated $1000-1300 cost of funding an off-site IMPACT Day to address interpersonal and school relationships.

Impact Day

Impact Day aims to help high school students address bullying issues and discuss ways to create more welcoming atmospheres for all students.
