The Zonta Club of Corvallis appreciates the support that you have given to our mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. We wanted to let you know that we will not be hosting an in-person annual auction this year. It did not seem right to ask our local business owners to donate items for an auction during such a stressful year for businesses, nor did we want to expose our guests to the possibility of COVID-19.
Last year the Zonta Club of Corvallis auction proceeds supported 21 very bright and capable women with scholarships that ranged from $1,500 to $3,000. Eleven of the $3,000 scholarships went to women studying in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The Club also awarded grants totaling $23,000 to 13 local non-profits that support women and girls. In addition, we supported Zonta International projects coordinated jointly with United Nations agencies.
Without our auction fundraising event this year it will be difficult to provide the same level of support, so later in the Fall we will have a virtual appeal event, Investing in the Future. This will allow you to still make a donation to the Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis and help us continue our work of empowering women.
We will certainly miss having an opportunity to enjoy your company again this year and we appreciate your understanding under the circumstances.
Thank you again for all your generosity in the past and we look forward to your continued support in the future.
