The Zonta Club of Corvallis Goes Greek With 2011 Auction Fundraiser
The Zonta Club of Corvallis hosted its 30th Annual Auction, Mediterranean Magic. . . A Greek Island Adventure on Friday, November 18, 2011. It was held at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center on the Oregon State University Campus, and much fun was had by all who attended. It was an elegant evening with hors d’oeuvres, beverages, plated dinner, and a silent auction, and professionally directed live auction. We involved our two High School Z Clubs with selling raffle tickets, 25/25/25 mystery boxes, and new this year to go with our theme, a Greek Island photo shoot “Wish You were Here” postcard. This was a fun project for the Crescent Valley High School Z Club. Also very active in this year’s festivities was our newly formed Oregon State University Golden Z Club.
Above all, it was a wonderfully successful fundraiser, as we raised over $81,000 with the support of businesses and individuals in our surrounding communities. This allows Zonta’s Corvallis membership of over 60 professionals to make a significant difference in the lives of families by awarding scholarships to women and men resuming their education at Oregon State University and Linn Benton Community College. In addition, we award grants to organizations that work to improve the lives of women and girls in our community along with supporting service projects of Zonta International.
Planning and carrying out this auction relies on hours and hours of volunteer effort from all of our Zonta members, spouses, friends and helpers. It is this collective effort that allows us to continue our mission of improving the status of women in our community, as well as, worldwide through service and advocacy.

- We welcome auction sponsors.
- You can make a donation to the auction. All donations are listed in our auction catalog with the name of the donor business. If you offer a donation past the date we can use it for this year, we’d love to use it for next year’s auction.
- You are welcome to purchase tickets for an entire table of 8.
- Use email invitations, Facebook, Twitter and other social media tools to spread the word about the auction and how to buy tickets. You can also be on our list for a poster that you can hang in your place of business.
Who benefits from the funds raised at the auction?
The auction proceeds fund scholarships for returning and non-traditional Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University students. With the dollars raised at the 2010 Auction, we have awarded $34,350 in local scholarships in 2011.
Zonta also used proceeds from the 2010 Auction to award grants to community organizations. In 2011, $19,820 was given to the following agencies in grants: Benton County Drug Treatment Courts—Adult; Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis; Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence; Community Outreach, Inc.; Furniture Share; Grace Center for Adult Services; Linn-Benton Food Share; Old Mill Center; Oregon Cascades West Senior Meals; OSU Saturday Academy; Parent Enhancement Program; Vina Moses Center; Linn-Benton Food Share; and We Care.
2012 scholarships and grants will be announced in June.
Finally, our auction helps support international projects that benefit women. This year, we’re helping to improve the lives of women in Rwanda, Liberia, El Salvador and Guatemala.
